Re: Welcome to my Blog    By jpmull33 on 3/1/2007
I was raised in Anchorage, started watching the start in Anchorage about 1959. Been a fan ever since. Now in Bothell, Wa. but follow the race ever since it has been on the internet. You have been my favorite racer for many years. I think I want you to win #5 as much as you do. GOOD LUCK this year, have a safe race and bring home the WIN.

Re: Welcome to my Blog    By strikethree13 on 3/5/2007
i am very sorry you had to scratch in rainy pass it is a huge dissapointment to you and all the fans, you made the right decision to scratch because you care about your dogs. in 2008 come back with a team that will not let you down. i also realized that this is your second to last iditarod but since you never finished try and make it to 2009. best of luck in the off season this summer.

Re: Welcome to my Blog    By strikethree13 on 3/5/2007
ps: is it possible you'll run in the kobuk 440 ?

Hope you heal quickly    By sasw1963 on 3/6/2007
I'm sorry to hear about your injuries and I hope they heal quickly. As always, you took the dogs care into consideration before your own health and made the correct choice. We fans in the lower 48 support you and hope to see you next year under the burled arch. God Bless

Re: Welcome to my Blog    By groupy on 3/6/2007
Hey Doug, Just your # groupy wondering how you're doing? I've been following the race on Iditerod Insider and saw you go from 28th to 20th and then drop out of sight. I figured something was wrong when you were still at finger lake to long. Love Ya man!! Talk to me please!!

Re: Welcome to my Blog    By penis on 3/6/2007
AHHAHAHAHAHAH YOU GOT SCRATCHED!!! WHAT WAS IT 78TH PLACE? IN THE IDITAROD!! AHAHAHAHAHA YOU SUCK!!BITCH!

Re: Welcome to my Blog    By Julee on 3/6/2007
Doug,
Sorry to hear of your unfortunate injuries, but as someone earlier said, the care of your dogs was of utmost importance. It just won't be as much fun watching the race, without you in there! I know you'll be back! Looking forward to seeing you next year. Take care and heal. As for the previous comment by "penis" it's too bad some people are just so miserable, jealous probably! And then have the nerve to say what they do, and hide behind a name like "penis". We can only imagine what a loser he must be! Some people's children never learned if you can't say something nice, just keep your big mouth to yourself. We love you Doug! Hang in there. Fans in Idaho!

Scratched 2007    By DJHS on 3/6/2007
We realize how tough it must be for you to not finish the race, but by your actions you truely are honoring the dogs and the spirit of the race! Thank You for demonstrating true character! May God Bless you and your family!!

Doug, would you describe this area of the trail which seems to throw punches at anyone who passes?

Dumas Junior High ROCKS!! TEXAS proud!

Wishing you the best    By Sir Lance on 3/7/2007
Doug, sorry to see you get injured. My prayers are for your recovery. I hope you do well in 2008. Thanks for mushing Iditarod. Dry Heat Arizonan.

Re: Welcome to my Blog    By HoffmanMountain on 3/9/2007
Doug,

Well, we just don't have the same enthusiasm logging on to check the standings without you at the forefront. You've been our number one pick since Iditarod 99. Just loved the reactions we would get in Wasilla when we cheered "Go Montana" or "Go Doug"!! HA!

You added your mark on this great race and brought it to a new level of using strategy and ingenuity in the battle to win. So who do we root for now?? Guess we'll keep pulling for Montana and Jason Barron. Or maybe the good Norwegian, Sorlie, who we wanted to see you compete against.

So here's to our favorite musher and hoping the 'drive for 5' will bring you back next year to this amazing sporting event with the most overworked and underpaid athletes in the world!! Cheers and may God bless you and Melanie...and your dogs... in unexpected ways this year!!

Re: Welcome to my Blog    By sdgdsgdfg on 3/18/2007
FUCK YOU FUCKER FUCKS BITCHES BASTARD HO THAT IS ALL!

Where are you?    By Mymieke on 9/25/2007
Mr. Swingley,
I don't see your name on the 08 list. ( altho I see Jason's)
Was planning on being in Wasilla again for the race,
mainly to see you run again. ( To the chagrin of most Alaskans I meet.)
What am I missing?

Re: Welcome to my Blog    By mrsmarvelous@hotmail.com on 10/4/2007
Would be thrilled to see you on Iditarod 08 list. What happened? I am the eternal cock-eyed optimist, it will not be the same without you!

Re: Welcome to my Blog    By cachetmt on 10/14/2007
I was wondering if you knew of any good husky breeders here in Western Montana? Or if you have any for sale yourself...we won't be racing, just having another great husky in the family! Thank you!

Re: Welcome to my Blog    By mrsmarvelous@hotmail.com on 10/25/2007
We are almost into November. Should really like to hear your secrets, as to Iditarod 08. Is it a big secret, or are you going to enter. Your fans would really like to know. Do you even check your e-mails and comments. What's the deal?
